• • Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all express devotion to Archangel Raphael. (There are writings about him in all three religions). 
  • Raphael, whose story is told in the Book of Tobit, is also believed to be the angel who stirred the healing waters of Bethsaida.

  • • In the Catholic tradition, the archangel Raphael is the Healer and one who blesses marriages. 
    • The feast day of Saint Raphael was included for the first time in the General Roman Calendar in the year 1921, for celebration on October 24. 
  • Judaism 
  • • The Hebrew word for a doctor of medicine is Rophe connected to the same root as Raphael. 
    •  Raphael's name in Hebrew means, "God has healed" 
  • Islam 
  • • In the Qur'an, Michael is one of the four archangels (with Izrail, Israfil and Jibrail), and one of the two Angels named in Qur'an. (The other was Gabriel). According to the Hadith, Raphael (Israfil in Arabic) is the Angel responsible for signaling the coming of Judgment Day by blowing the horn and sending out a "Blast of Truth."

• • The caduceus represents the authority to quickly deliver vital information or wisdom to aid, assist and enlighten. It is no surprise then that the caduceus is used by a variety of professions who have a connection with Hermes or Mercury in his traditional roles. The medical profession adopted this symbol for its healing connotations. Contemporary users of this symbol include merchants, journalists, and postal workers. 
  • In the Hermetic Tradition, the caduceus is a symbol of spiritual awakening, and represents the transcendence of the lower nature to the Higher nature. 

Manifestations:

• Raphael is the angel sent by God to cure Jacob's thigh injury after Jacob's battle with a dark enemy. 
• In the famous legend of the flood, Raphael handed Noah a "medical book" when the rain had stopped. It is said to be the famous book called, "The Book of the Angel Raziel." 
• Raphael was sent by God to help Tobit, Tobiah and Sarah. At the time, Tobit was blind and Tobiah's betrothed, Sarah, had had seven bridegrooms perish on the night of their weddings. Archangel Raphael accompanied Tobiah into Media disguised as a man named Azariah. Raphael helped him through his difficulties and taught him how to safely enter marriage with Sarah. Tobiah said that Archangel Raphael caused him to have his wife and that he gave joy to Sarah's parents for driving out the evil spirit in her. He also gave Raphael credit for his father's seeing the light of heaven and for receiving all good things through his intercession. 
• A legend taken from the book of Solomon says that when Solomon prayed to God for help in the building of a temple, God answered with the gift of a magic ring brought to the Hebrew king personally by Raphael. The ring, engraved with the pentalpha, (5-pointed star a.k.a. pentacle), had the power to subdue all demons. It was with the "slave labor” of demons that Solomon was able to complete the building of the temple. 

Prayer:

The best way to ask Archangel Raphael and your personal guides to work with you is from a meditative or quite state of mind.

1. To prepare, you might want to take a few slow deep breaths and say a prayer to God to help you be as open to the healing as you can be and to please join in the healing work and support you through your healing process. When you are ready to begin, you can invite Archangel Raphael, your own personal Spiritual Guides and Guardian Angels, and your Higher Self in to work with you. State your intentions clearly. 
2. Ask Raphael to begin by healing and opening your heart, embrace the energy that begins to flow to you through this Angel's love for you! The key is the energy that comes from within you and the way to access that energy is to accept responsibility for your own life and everything that happens in it. All the tools you need and the instructions on how to use them will be handed you if you are really willing to accept them. 
3. The healing process need not be long or difficult. In fact, far from it! It can all happen in the twinkling of an eye when one is open and willing to receive healing from Archangel Raphael. 
4. If you are facing a serious or even life threatening illness or issue, ask Raphael to come to you to support you in the healing process. You are never alone! Raphael will, if you but ask, help you to find the appropriate healers and tools that would be most beneficial for you at this time. 

Tip: Write Raphael a letter asking to understand why the circumstance is happening in your life and what you can do to help heal yourself. Raphael will bring you the answers and even though they may not be the ones you want to hear, trust that Raphael will also show you how to resolve these things so that you can heal and move on in your life.
